Coverage and light distribution

The eight-bar foldable design isn't just about making the fixture easier to ship. Spreading the diodes across multiple bars rather than clustering them on a single board gives you far more even PPFD across the canopy, which means fewer hotspots in the middle and less falloff at the edges. At 12 inches the Fold-800 delivers 1,256 µmol/m²/s, which is more than enough intensity for hungry flowering plants. Raise it a little and you soften that number into a more vegetative-friendly range without losing uniformity.

Dimming and controller compatibility

One thing worth knowing before you buy: the Fold-800 ships with a built-in dimmer and powers on at 100% by default. It uses a 0-10V dimming protocol, which lets you bring intensity down to around 20% when seedlings or clones need a gentler touch. However, because the dimmer is integrated, it is not compatible with the Medic Grow Mini Controller or 0-10V LED Dimmer Knob sold separately for other fixtures in the range. If you're planning a multi-light setup and want centralised control, one external controller can now run a significantly larger number of Fold-800 units than older generations allowed, which is worth factoring into your setup planning.

Built to run reliably

The Fold-800 carries ETL and DLC certification, a 3-year warranty, and a rated lifespan of over 30,000 hours. DLC listing in particular matters if you're in a jurisdiction that offers energy rebates on commercial lighting, as it qualifies the fixture for those programmes.
